Weekly News October 29, 2026

Tomorrow is the Preschool Halloween Parade and Bishop Scharf will be joining the fun. We'll post lots of photos on Facebook afterwards.
This is All Saints Sunday and we will be continuing the lovely tradition of placing doves in St. Francis Garden with the names of departed loved ones. After the service proceed to the outdoor altar and write the name of someone that you would like to remember and place with our treasured saints.
Remember to set your clocks BACK an hour on Saturday night or you will be quite early for church on Sunday morning !!
At Coffee Hour will be celebrating Halloween and will have an apple dipping station - join us for the fellowship, food and fun.
The first week of the month, loose plate offerings are for the Priest's Discretionary Fund.
A message from Mother Joyce: "We are gathering goodies for Olivia, our college student who is a Junior at FSU. We would like to send a box the week of November 16th in time for exams.
Remember when you first left home and received something from friends and family back home? Think about snacks and goodies to tide you over the weekend when the food services were closed. No item is too small and we will have a card to go with it. Our Olivia is having her first adventure and we want to support her in her educational endeavor as she prepares for a degree in hospitality. If you have any questions, please contact me."
Adult studies are held on the first and second Sundays of the month. Grab a plate of food at coffee hour and join us in Ricker Hall. For December 6th and 13th the book for discussion is "Gospel Voices: Advent with Matthew, Mark, Luke and John". Copies are available now.
Thanksgiving turkeys and dinner fixings will be distributed Thursday, November 19th from 1:00 to 3:00 pm subject to availability. Meals are provided by All Faiths Food Bank and distributed as drive-thru. The Food Pantry could use many volunteers on this day.
The Food Pantry served 133 families last Friday (families are eligible to come once a month). You can help by volunteering, providing the toiletry items listed below, or donate funds. To donate online please go to: https://www.stwilfredsarasota.org/
FYI – Our Food Pantry serves approximately 650 households per month and is increasing! Changes to the SNAP program of supplemental food assistance has been reduced by the federal government and an increase of local families needs is expected.
For November the Food Pantry is collecting bar & liquid soap. Toiletries are not included with government food assistance and the need is greater than ever. They are in need of egg cartons, paper and plastic bags. There is a basket in the narthex, or kindly bring the items to the office.
The Food Pantry can always use some help on Fridays distributing the food and some strong arms on Thursdays. Please arrive around noon. If you know of someone that can lift heavy things that would be great! This would be on Thursdays and they don't have to commit to every week.
Facebook is a fun way to stay connected with the Church and the news and happenings! Postings from the Preschool, the Diocese, the Episcopal Church, the National Cathedral, plus some fun and humorous items. Visit us at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/458237684264439
