Church Name and Episcopal Flag
News of the Week from Saint Wilfred Episcopal Church

The Food Pantry is in need of additional help on Friday’s distributing the food (or Fridays for unpacking the crates & setting up the tables).  Several of our volunteers are ill / recovering or out of town.  Please arrive around noon.

Thursday March 26th at 7:00 pm, the Reverend Nikki E. L. Seger will be installed as rector of St. Boniface Church on Siesta Key.  As we continue to build our bond of shared outreach with St. Boniface, it would be nice to have a good representation.  Carpooling is possible.

The Adult Class will meet the Second Sunday of April in Ricker after the service so grab your coffee and nosh. The Lectionary will be the discussion subject.

The Food Pantry served 125 families last Friday (families are eligible to come once a month). You can help by donating the monthly toiletries that we announce each month.  Details are below in the food panty section.  WE ARE ALSO IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS.

This month's plate collection is for the Episcopal Relief & Development Fund who partners with faith and community leaders to advance lasting change in communities affected by injustice, poverty, disaster and climate change.  Inspired by our faith and in collaboration with local experts, they provide resources and programming that nurture early childhood development, reduce violence against women and girls strengthen communities’ climate resilience and provide support in the wake of disasters. For more information go to:   https://www.episcopalrelief.org/

Needless to say the amount of families visiting our Food Pantry has increased. You can help by volunteering, providing the toiletry items listed below, or donate funds. To donate online please go to:  https://www.stwilfredsarasota.org/

FYI – Our Food Pantry serves approximately 650 households per month and is increasing!  Changes to the SNAP program of supplemental food assistance has been reduced by the federal government and an increase of local families needs is expected.

For March the Food Pantry is collecting deodorant. Toiletries are not included with government food assistance and the need is greater than ever. They are in need of egg cartons, paper and plastic bags. There is a basket in the narthex, or kindly bring the items to the office.

The Food Pantry can always use some help on Fridays distributing the food and some strong arms on Thursdays.  Please arrive around noon. If you know of someone that can lift heavy things that would be great! This would be on Thursdays and they don't have to commit to every week.

Facebook is a fun way to stay connected with the Church and the news and happenings! Postings from the Preschool, the Diocese, the Episcopal Church, the National Cathedral, plus some fun and humorous items.  Visit us at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/458237684264439
